Scion Staffing, Inc. (www.scionstaffing.com), a full-service national staffing firm has been engaged to conduct a search for a General Counsel for our client, a consumer products corporation based out of Florida. This role is direct-hire and is ready to be filled!


Responsibility Overview:
 

  • Provides legal advice and counsel on our client’s business and contractual matters.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor and sounding board to the CEO and Executive Team.
  • Works with outside counsel and dedicated attorney resources on regular basis to manage and review large volumes of contracts, including customer and vendor agreements, as well as litigation and other specialized matters.
  • Drafts, reviews, and negotiates strategic and complex contracts for certain subsidiary businesses.
  • Performs general corporate and litigation and pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights.
  • Prepares and maintains corporate governance documents and other records for compliance, accuracy, and thoroughness.
  • Conducts legal research, prepares documents, and advises our client’s staff and leadership.
  • Leads steering committees by preparing agendas, facilitating agendas, developing recommendations in cases, tracking and reporting to the committees, board of directors, and delegate assembly.
  • Possesses extensive experience in litigation and contract dispute resolution.
  • Develops a budget for the office of General Counsel.
  • Provides litigation support and management and compliance with corporate familiarities and our client’s obligations; provides full legal support to all business units in managing their legal risks with regard to contract administration, capital project planning, and financial investments.
  • Provides counsel and support to compliance matters to ensure regulatory requirements, statutes, rules, and regulations are followed.
  • Provides legal support to all of our client’s departments and related entities, including reviewing proposed sample board policies and administrative regulations developed by the policy services department.

 

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution.
  • Active member of Florida state bar in good standing, qualified to practice law in Northern America. Would consider candidates qualified for immediate eligibility to be admitted to the State Bar of Florida.
  • 10+ years practicing law with experience as In-House/General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel preferred, or a combination of practicing law with experience in these areas considered: marketing and advertising, consumer goods corporations.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong commercial contract with extensive drafting and dispute resolution experience.
  • High degree of ethics.
  • Outstanding critical thinking with the ability to influence and maintain flexibility.
  • Demonstrated skills in managing, leading and motivating a high-performance team.
  • Adept at keeping updated on legal industry trends and changes to laws and regulations related to labor and employment law matters.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across business units with competing priorities.
  • Able to understand and closely integrate with business units while maintaining the independence necessary to provide appropriate legal advice and professional integrity.
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communications, including the ability to quickly digest and convey complex legal issues to non-legal professionals throughout the organization in an intelligible and compelling manner.
  • Solid presentation skills suitable for a broad range of audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively manage and deliver projects on time essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including an ability to work well with others and tactfully positively influence management, peers, and staff in a team-oriented and collaborative culture.
